1. 5018 HIGH STREET UXBRIDGE Nos 163 to 174 (consec) Uxbridge Underground Station TQ 0584 19/500 II 2. Late 1930s by Adams, Holden and Pearson with L H Bucknell. Concrete with red brick facades. Frontage building is a wide crescent with shops below in a ground floor which projects in the inner curve. Continuous bands of windows on first floor. The station is entered through a central opening with screen of two columns and steel mesh overhead doors. Above this the two sides of the curve are separated and emphasised by blank panels with symbolic sculpture above of two halves of a broken, sprung bogey. The inner hall is spacious and carried on flattened concrete arches, which continue to form a vista down to the platforms. More shops are inside, in addition to the booking office, and there is sloped clerestory lighting above them.
