1. BOW ROAD E3 4431 ISLAND SITE St Mary's Church TQ 3782 12/287 GV B Dates from the C14. Stone with brick additions and tiled roof. Tower is C15 with upper part rebuilt 1829. North vestry circa 1700, south aisle rebuilt 1794. South porch has pedimented hood. Severe war damage at west end has been repaired. Monuments dating from the C16. (RCHM) St Mary's Church, the iron railings, gate and piers to the churchyard and the statue of W E Gladstone and bollards form a focal group in the centre of Bow Road and also group with Our Lady of St Catherine Roman Catholic Church and No 199 on the North Side of Bow Road.
