Circa 1838. J Locke engineer. Joint bridge for the London and Birmingham
and Grand Junction Railways providing access to Curzon Street. The north-east
elevation remains unaltered, the south-west face incorporated into bridge
widening when the line was carried through to New Street. Brick with ashlar
dressings. Slightly battered abutments. Channelled ashlar piers. Broad
elliptical arch. Ashlar voussoirs chamfered and stepped in groups of 3. Ashlar
infill in spandrels. Corbel bracketted cornice broken forward over piers.
Ashlar parapet. Approx 49 yards depth of original bridge with slightly skew
brickwork to vault.
