SOUTH PETHERTON CP NORTH STREET (East side, off) ST4317 Shutlers Mill 6/126 (also known as North Mills) 19.4.61 GV II Mill, water powered. C18 or earlier, modified in C19. Ham stone rubble, corrugated iron roof, presumably replacing thatch. Single-storey with loft; north-east elevation of 2 bays. Plain doorway to left and 3-light casement to right, and left of these a loft doorway. In north-west gable a small stairlight window at upper level. Inside, much of the machinery survives, especially at loft level, but the stream and leat are no longer visible. This is presumed to be the site of a mill mentioned in the Domesday Survey: milling continued here until after the Second World War (VCH, Vol III, 1974).
