Public road bridge. 1824-1827. Brick. Single elliptical arch, band, solid para-
pet and piers, with half-round brick coping. Iron rope-fenders on arch edges to
towpath. Towpath retaining wall has cross-hatched brick and some stone edging.
The Bridgwater and Taunton Canal was constructed between 1824-1827 with James
Hillinsworth as engineer.
