About 1845 when the railway was opened. 2 storey white brick building with lower
wings to side. Cornice and parapet. Hipped slate roof. 3 windows, the end window
bays project slightly. Sashes (triple light in centre) in painted moulded surrounds,
glazing bars. Ground floor has windows and central doorway with cornices on brackets.
Canopy over ground floor on curved iron brackets with scrolled detail: frilled
edge to canopy 1 storey contemporary range to left with large round headed archway
and key-stone in corner and canopy over.
Taunton Station (South block) forms a group with former Great Western Hotel and
the Wheel Tapper Public House.
