CHURCH OF ST JOHN THE BAPTIST

Tall west tower with pinnacled top and stair turret on south face. Red sandstone. Mostly C15, with very tall nave and clerestory windows. Short chancel (re-built 1847) has interesting early tracery to east window (C13). South door and porch C13 or early C14. Fine Popham tomb, 1607. Interior has a ceiled wagon roof and 2 late C18 west galleries in aisles.
