Water tower. Late C19. Red brick in English bond with black brick plinth and yellow brick
bands; steel water tower. Circular 4-storey tower, tapering on ground and 1st floors, has
plinth with stepped sloping top, deep stepped cornice and carries water tank surmounted by
swept conical steel-plated roof with weather-vane. On north side of tower is round-arched,
battened board door with decorative hinges;on the floors above it are a round-arched
opening with stone sill,an oculus, and another round-arched opening, louvred. The south-east
and south-west sides have similar fenestration with round-arched openings instead of the
door and the lower openings blind; on the south-west side the top-most opening is a flat-
arched doorway with iron-bracketed platform from which an inspection ladder rises up the
side of the tank. The tank has riveted panels and riveted posts supporting roof, there
being a gap between this and the top of the tank; on the north side of the tank is a measure.
