ST 66 NE COMPTON DANDO BURNETT 3/34 Church of St Michael 1.2.56 G.V. II Anglican parish church. C13, altered C15, altered and enlarged C19. Consists of nave and south porch, projecting south chapel or manor pew, and chancel. Rubble with freestone dressings; slate roofs with coped raised verges; Nave: stone bell- cote on west end; C19 2-light round-headed windows and one cusped lancet window to west of porch. C19 gabled south porch; inner panelled door in double ogee moulded surround and under a hoodmould with fleurons and head stops; image niche over, also with head stops. Interior: unable to visit at time of resurvey (February 1984) but said to be a fine brass in the chancel: John Cutte, died 1575, once Mayor of Bristol, kneeling couple with 12 children, shield with the arms of Bristol and a merchant's mark.
