1. BRIDGE STREET 823 (South Side) Victoria Art Gallery and Library ST 7564 NW 19/761 II 2. 1897-1900 by J M Brydon. Baroque in feeling. Rusticated ground floor, round headed window openings and central doorway which breaks forward slightly. 1st floor windowless and has range of 9 coved niches with alternate pointed and segmental pediments, central niche is larger with flanking Ionic columns and contains statue of Queen Victoria. Crowning cornice, balustraded parapet. Main entrance at North-east corner, upper floors semi-circular with entablature and parapet on paired Ionic columns and surmounted by large dome. Entrance doorway breaks forward and has open pediment on Roman Doric half columns with square block rustication.
