CHAPEL COURT823St John's Hospital(including ChapelCourt House)

CHAPEL COURT 1. 823 St John's Hospital (including Chapel Court House) ST 7464 NE 18/18 12.6.50. I GV 2. Foundation of 1274, rebuilt in l716 by architect Wm Killigrew and continued after 1727 by John Wood (elder) when aged 23 and was his first work in Bath. 2 storeys and cornice, heavy ground floor arcade of round-headed arches on pillars. Now includes Chapel Court House which has original window mouldings and sashes. Horace Walpole stayed here in 1765. All the listed buildings in Chapel Court form an important group.
