1. SION HILL PLACE 823 "Summerhill" & 12.6.50. Nos 1 to 9 (consec) ST 7466 SW 5/456 I 2. Architect John Pinch. Began 1818, finished 1820. 4 storeys no attic. Centre house breaks forward and has pediment. End houses have segmental bows to their full height. Ground floor has horizontal grooving with circular headed door openings. Carved and moulded band course between 2nd and 3rd floors. Good Doric porticos to doorways of end houses are later additions, and some plate glass replaces original glazing in some windows. Summerhill House attached to West end came from Chippenham. It was pulled down and removed here stone by stone. Detail suggests elder Wood.
