1. MILSOM STREET 823 No 24 (National Westminster Bank ) ST 7465 SE 14/1455 II 2. 1865 by Wilson and Willcox. Tall classical ashlar bank on corner site with stronger Baroque detail than No 23. 3 storeys with attic storey. Arcaded ground floor windows with vermiculation to wall above impost level, cornice over and balustraded parapet set in front of 1st floor. Giant engaged Composite columns articulate both fronts up to 2nd floor carved modillion bracket cornice, columns paired each end of George Street front. Attic storey also has balustraded parapet set in front, articulated by pilasters - crowning cornice and balustraded parapet. Carved string and sill courses. Architrave surrounds to windows, with garland pendants on 2nd floor, cornices and pediments to central 1st floor windows on each front. Curved corner with horizontal grooving. Red marble bolection doorcase with pediment and carved panel over. 1 storey wing to George Street, 1st floor balustrade carried over. Banking hall has arcaded walls and marble columns supporting beamed ceiling. Important corner site vis a vis No 23.
