1. BATHWICK HILL 823 Oakwood ST 7564NE 4/997 II GV 2. Villa, formerly known as Smallcombe Grove. Early C19. Italianate style in the manner of the architect Edward Goodridge; built for the local painter Benjamin Barker. Irregular plan, terraced on north east side overlooking fine contemporary garden (listed). Slated roofs with projecting bracketted eaves & gables; good arcaded stacks. Bathstone ashlar. Main North West front: 2 storeys; projecting gabled wing to left with 3-light bay window (Venetian type at 1st floor) with sashes, margin lights & glazing bars; 3 bay loggia to right (arcaded with 7 openings) with pillared parapet & French windows. South-west front; 3 storeys; ground floor loggia, central oriel window & 4 storey terminating pavilion at south west end.
