DERBY ROAD 1. 1839 Haarlem Mill SK 25 SE 5/57 II GV 2. Late C18 and later. A building of 3 storeys and loft. The ground floor, of coursed stone rubble, is original, the upper storeys a later reconstruction in red brick. Plain gable with 3 windows. The ground floor has 3 windows and central doorway with cambered heads; bands; slates. Acquired by Sir Richard Arkwright in 1777 and the original of the mill in the novel 'Adam Bede' by George Eliot. Haarlem Mill, Warehouse of Haarlem Mill and Haarlem House form a group.
