Carrying out family history research

Q. How can I use Images of England to research my family’s village?
A: You can view all the listed buildings in your family’s village using Images of England. You can also use the List Descriptions for family history research as they often contain the names of people associated with the building such as architects, designers or engineers.

Descriptions for listed churchyard monuments will often detail the names referred to in the dedication, and descriptions of listed churches may give details of monuments within the church.

Please note that the inclusion of a listed building on this website does not mean it is open to the public.
