Website done and dusted!

After 13,000 films, 2,200 volunteers, 442,000 camera clicks and 1.4 million miles the Images of England website is now complete!

The final image total stands at 323,107, which is 95% of the total number of buildings listed at the turn of the millennium. This groundbreaking achievement is largely due to the dedication of our volunteer photographers. They've been out in all weathers, across fields and moors, along canals and river banks, as well as their local high streets. Our sincere thanks go to each and every one of you.

Our gratitude must also go to the owners and occupiers of listed buildings across England who have supported the project and been extremely obliging to our volunteers. The cups of tea and slices of cake have been very welcome!

Thanks must also be extended to the project team members, past and present, who have shown enthusiasm and patience, often in the face of adversity.

One final thank you must go to you, our user. Without you and your support our project would have been worthless. We hope you continue to find the site helpful and enjoyable to use.

Without doubt, the true value of the photographic record will not be felt for many years, once the images have had chance to age and the historic built environment has inevitably changed. Our grandchildren and great grandchildren are the website's future custodians and will undoubtedly cherish this piece of photographic history.
