1. 1833 THE CLOSE Wolvesey Castle SU 4829 SW 6/40 24.3.50. I GV 2. Ruins are remains of Caste erected by Bishop Henry de Blois (1129-1171). Original Bishops residence (see Archaeological Journal 1902). Destroyed by Roundheads, 1646. Chapel, mainly C,15, remains in use. AM. All listed buildings in The Close form a group.
