1. 5454 THE CAUSEWAY Remains of Waytemore Castle TL 4921 SW:4/12, 3/12, 6/12 18.10.49 TL 4821 SE TL 42 SE I 2. Reamins of Cll and C12 motte and bailey castle. Earthwork mound, flint walling. Large oval motte, 40 ft high, with ruins of C12 shell keep on top perimeter. Remains of chambers in north-east and south-east angles. Roughly pentagonal bailey to south has water courses on 4 sides. Now public tennis courts and gardens; wooded with grand avenue. Scheduled Ancient Monument. (RCHM (1911)).
