SJ 3589 SE GAMBLER TERRACE Ll 60/483 Nos 1 to 10 (consec) (formerly listed as 28.6.52 Nos 2 to 10 (consec)) G.V. II Includes No 2 Canning Street. Terrace of 11 houses. c.1836. John Foster Junior. Stone. 3 storeys and attic,35 bays, 1st 7 bays and last 6 bays project. Bays 1 to 7; ground floor has channelled rustication. Round-headed windows have sashes with glazing bars. Central entrance with Greek Doric porch. 1st and 2nd floor giant Ionic and attached colonnade. 1st and 2nd floor windows and porch have rectangular iron balconies. Windows mostly sashed. Entablature, and attic with pilasters with recessed panels. Last 6 bays similar but with 2 round-headed entrances and giant pilastrade. Centre bays have Doric colonnade with Ionic entablature supporting deep balcony with iron balustrade. Plain entrances. 1st floor windows have architraves, friezes and cornices. 2nd floor windows have architraves and sill band. Centre 3 windows have rectangular iron balconies. Entablature and attic with cornice. All windows are sashed, most with glazing bars. Return to Canning St of 5 bays, projecting entrance with distyle Doric colonnade in antis.
