SK 03 NW CHECKLEY C.P. HOLLINGTON ROAD (south side) 9/132 North west lodge to Heath House GV II Lodge. 1830-1 by James Trubshaw with minor later additions. Sandstone ashlar; pyramidal slate roof of low pitch with centre stack. Reticulated square plan, single storey; the approach-front of 3 windows; glazing bar casements, the outer of one light, are flanked by pilasters with a deep central recess and 3-light window; the entrance side to right reverses the theme with outer recesses containing entrances and the centre (flanked by pilasters) a 3-light casement. Lower brick addition to rear with one C20 window. Forms part of the approach to Heath House (qv). Drawings exist for the commission signed by James Trubshaw and not Thomas as suggested in T. Mowl and B. Earnshaw "Trumpet at a Distant Gate - The Lodge as Prelude to the Country House", Waterstone 1985.
