The original building on the site is said to have been a royal hunting lodge,
possibly of King John. The surviving building is a C15 timber-framed building,
altered in the C16. Two storeys. Four windows. The west half is faced with
weather-boarding. The east half is partly weather-boarded, partly red brick
the first floor tile hung and oversailing on brackets. Tiled roof. Casement
windows. To the south-east of the house was a C16 timber-framed barn which
has been incorporated into the house and joined to it by a corridor which was
formerly a cow shed.
