Farmhouse. C15, C16 and C17 coursed rubblestone with ashlar dressings,
graduated stone slate roof. T-shaped in plan. 2 storeys, irregular
fenestration. Cross wing on left. Central 1/2-glazed door in triangular-
headed surround, the lintel moulded, hood-mould. To right are two 3-light
chamfered mullion windows with hood-moulds; to left a 5-light chamfered
mullion window with hood-mould. First floor: above the door is a 3-arched-
light C16 window with dripstone; similar 4-light window to right; to left a
5-light C15 window with cusped lights and dripstone; to far left a 2-arched-
light C16 window. Ashlar coping and external gable stack to right; ridge
stack. To left gabled wing has large offset external stack rising as
octagonal flue with chamfered band and castellated top. Rear: a reset 2-
light C13 window with irregular trefoil in head. Interior: round-arched
stone doorway leads to late C17 open-well stair with column-on-vase
balusters. Rooms have re-used C17 panelling. Drawing room has C16
panelling and fine fire surround with marquetry bearing date 1549 and
initials MW, those of Sir Marmaduke Wyvill.
