TRING ICKNIELD WAY SP 91 SW (South side) Miswell 4/80 No. 4 (The Barn & Windmill) 21.9.51 (formerly listed as The Windmill, Miswell Lane) - II Former Goldfield Windmill and barn, now linked and converted to a house. 1840 for Mr. Grover, sails removed 1906-8, converted to steam power 1910 and worked up to 1920's. Converted to house in 1970's. Red brick tower with green painted metal cap, painted brick slated low buildings adjoining. A tall tapering circular former tower mill with pointed domed cap and ball finial. Old photos show 4 sails and fantail on cap. 6-light oriel windows now on opposite sides of cap where wind shaft and fantail formerly projected. 4-storeys and cap-house. Segmental arches to small windows and ground and 1st floor doors. Vertical shaft remains with large cast iron wheel with wooden teeth to drive pairs of millstones now gone.
