SJ 3589 NW RODNEY STREET (west side) L1 56/1002 No. 62 (formerly listed with Nos. 58 to 28.6.52 72 (even)) G.V. II House. Late C18. Brick with stone dressings, slate roof. 3 storeys with basement, 8 bays. Last 5 bays form symmetrical composition round 3 bay pedimented centre. Stone basement plat band over ground floor, 1st floor sill band to 3 bay centre and top cornice with blocking course. All windows have wedge lintels and are sashed, those above the ground floor have glazing bars. Central round-headed entrance has aedicule with foliated capitals to the attached columns and swag and urn decoration to the frieze. 1st floor central window has architrave, frieze and cornice with some decoration. 1st 3 bays of 1 storey with recessed rear section the 2nd floor of which has been rebuilt and has a parapet with balustraded sections. Birth place of W. E. Gladstone.
