Tunnel entrance portals. 1840. By IK Brunel. For the Great
Western Railway. Squared rubble and dressed Pennant stone.
Norman Revival style. Fortified entrances to either end of
tunnel, with semicircular arch and surrounds with
machicolation, arrow slits and crenellated parapets. Eastern
portal has square and round towers on right and left sides.
