Old Windmill House
II
Windmill, now part of house. Late C18, converted 1905. Brick
with ashlar dressings. Tall conical tower with ashlar merlons
forming simple crenellation. 4 storeys. Window to each floor,
one sashed, and one blocked window to rear. Attached house of
1905 has mixed stone rubble facing, including some carved
stones, to front and right return. The mill was working by
1807 and worked by steam from 1857 until the early 1870s,
becoming part of a house in 1905. A well preserved example,
although without machinery.
