Tower windmill, now derelict and dilapidated. Dated 1761
internally. Coursed squared sandstone (now lacking cap).
Cylindrical form, with basement and 3 stages remaining; with
the basement forming a plinth of large dressed blocks, and
plain bands over the 1st and 2nd stages; a square-headed
doorway at each cardinal point, all with surrounds of large
dressed blocks, chamfered reveals and flat-arched heads with
gauged voussoirs and raised keystones; 4 very small
rectangular windows to each of the upper stages, regularly
arranged on each level and those to the top stage aligned with
the doorways but those to the intermediate stage at
intermediate points. INTERIOR: one massive beam to the former
2nd stage floor; small fireplace at 2nd stage with lintel
crudely inscribed "M G 1761". Forms group with No.53, Mill
House (qv).
