These buildings were the Gatehouse of the Archbishop's Palace. A Mediaeval
building restored in C20. 3 storeys faced with flints. Tiled roof. Nos
41-43 have 5 windows in red brick surrounds with brick mullions. In the centre
of the ground floor is a painted stone archway. No 44 is of 2 storeys and
has 3 mullioned windows in brick surrounds. No 45 is now plastered. 2 storeys,
altered in C18. 1 sash. Early C19 shopfront with pilasters.
Nos 29 to 48 (consec) form a group.
