1. BROAD STREET 823 (West Side) Nos 8 and 9 ST 7565 SW 15/1069 II GV 2. Circa 1840 refacing of late C18 houses ? 3 storeys ashlar with shops on ground floor. 5 windows to upper floors. Moulded modillion projecting cornice low parapet. Glazing bar sashes in chamfered reveals, cornices over those on 1st floor, architrave surrounds. 1st floor sill band. Modern shop front to No 8 but retaining house door of 5 moulded panels. No 9 has double plain Victorian shop front, fascia flanked by ornate consoles and dentil cornice. North side of No 9 of rubble rangework extending in 2 storeys to west with cornice cove. Ashlar dressings and blocking pieces to windows. Nos 1 to 7 (consec), 7A, 8 and 9, Kingston Motors, King Edwards School and Nos 10 to 16 (consec) with archway to York Hotel yard form a group.
