SPARKFORD CP THE AVENUE (North side) ST62NW 4/162 The Octagon 12.2.75 - II Detached house. Early C19; restored and extended in c1980. Local lias stone with Cary stone quoins and dressings; multi-hipped double Roman clay tile roof to central south bay, plain doorway below and 2-light slightly chamfered stone surround to timber casement windows; similar windows on flanking faces of 4-light windows below and 3-light above. C20 extension to west and north sides. Interior not seen. May have been a toll house as it is at a junction of the turnpike roads belonging to the Langport, Somerton, Castle Cary and Martock Trust, the Ilchester Trust and the Wincanton Trust.
