Mid C18 house, where William Wordsworth was born in 1770. Open to the public.
2 storeys, stone, projecting stone quoins with V joints. Entrance has 8-panelled
door in 2 halves, and 2 Doric columns on pedestals with moulded entablature. 9
sash windows above with moulded stone dressings, and glazing bars. Small garden
in front with stone walling, and gate piers of stone with moulded caps and ornament.
Wordsworth House forms a group with Nos 2 and 4, The Trout Hotel and Grecian
Villa, Crown Street.
