6/9 Albert Edward Bridge
II
Railway bridge. 1863 by John Fowler, engineer. Cast-iron; brown brick
abutments with chamfered yellow brick angle quoins. Single segmental
girder arch with mid-C20 steel parapet. Plates at apex of arch record
the date and name of the bridge and the names of its engineer and the
contractors responsible, Messrs Brassby and Field; another plate records
the fact that the bridge was cast and erected by the Coalbrookdale
Company of Ironbridge. Half of the bridge, which spans the River Severn,
is in Wrekin District, where it is listed Grade II as item 13/347
and ascribed a date of 1859.
