Wherever
you are in England there is an English Heritage Regional Education
Officer who will be happy to offer you advice on using the built
environment as an educational resource or basing a local study on an
historic building, monument or archaeological site.
Visit our website
for information, case studies and ideas for local history projects,
including how to base a study on a local monument.
We aim to help teachers at all levels to use the resource of the historic
environment. Each year, we welcome half a million pupils, students and
teachers on free educational group visits to over 400 historic
sites in our care.
We produce a range of publications offering advice and information
on using everything from documents and photographs to empty buildings,
for teaching about the historic environment in a range of subjects including
citizenship, science and art.
Find out more about our publications from our Resources catalogue
available from English Heritage Education, Freepost 22 [WD214], London
W1E 7EZ or by e-mail on education@english-heritage.org.uk.
Every school receives a free copy of 'Heritage Learning' each
term and visits to English Heritage sites, supported by information
and activity sheets, are free for teachers and school parties.
Visit the education
section of the English Heritage website for further information.
