Images of England Exhibitions Programme Continues
The Images of England exhibition programme is now in full swing and to date ten exhibitions have showcased. Every photograph selected for the exhibitions is particular to the venue and each photograph provides visitors with a taster of what is available on the Images of England website.

Each exhibition has opened with a special preview event for the volunteers and local people and several have been officially opened by local Mayors. The exhibitions are held in a wide range of interesting buildings including restored watermills like Coldharbour Mill in Devon and the Path Head Water Mill, in Tyne and Wear, as well as listed buildings such as tourist information and heritage centres.

The exhibition preview events give visitors an opportunity to share stories about the local heritage and environment, whilst volunteers swap tales of patience, daring deeds and endeavour on the subject of taking photographs for the project.

One aspect of the project which never ceases to amaze is that volunteers can only take one photograph of each building. Traditionally, photographers will take several shots of their subject and then select the best; on the Images of England project the volunteers only have one chance in which to record the heritage of each listed building, to create that snapshot in time of historic buildings early in the 21st century.

Following a full and successful exhibition programme during 2004 the programme for 2005 has already begun so take a look at the timetable below and find out if there's an exhibition near to you.
